I Closed My Eyes…

Drew back the curtain
To see for certain what I thought I knew.
Far far away someone was weeping
But the world was sleeping
Any dream will do.

kfn__03_2008_0075

I wore my coat with golden lining
Bright colors shining, wonderful and new
And in the East the dawn was breaking
And the world was waking
Any dream will do.

kfn__03_2008_0076

A crash of drums, a flash of light
My golden coat flew out of sight.
The colors faded into darkness
I was left alone.

kfn__03_2008_0079

May I return to the beginning
The light is dimming, and the dream is too.
The world and I, we are still waiting
Still hesitating
Any dream will do.

kfn__03_2008_0077

Give me my colored coat, my amazing colored coat.
Give me my colored coat, my amazing colored coat.

kfn__03_2008_0074

Sincerest apologies to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber on that (That’s “Any Dream Will Do” from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which is what Lizzie started singing to me backstage at the theatre.), but I just had to.

Top to bottom, we have:

1. Me in The Sweater!

2. Showing off my mad stranding skillz

3. The buttons (I’ll be damned – JoAnn’s had ones I really like!), joined by the dragonfly pendant that Carrie gave me for my birthday this fall (She made the cord on a lucet, which she still needs to teach me to use!)

4. The back (pose inspired by the original Joseph album cover and posters) and

5. Me, in The Sweater, thrilled beyond belief. And a little warm. :D

Oh, and the last line of the song (which is also the last line of the show) – when I did the show, back in summer of 1995, my friend Allison and I used to jokingly since “mayonnaising colored coat”, because it completely sounded like that. I haven’t seen her since shortly before I got married (so, 1998), but every time I hear that line, I think of her, and I have to giggle.
