So, in yesterday’s mail, we got a menu from a new local restaurant - East Moon Asian Bistro. I looked over the menu and thought it looked damn good, so Kris and I decided that, since they deliver, we’d try them. I called to place an order, and was told that actually, they weren’t open yet and would be opening for business today.
We decided to try them out tonight instead. We knew it was their first night, and when we got there, we saw that the staff looked a bit frazzled. So, we expected a few roadbumps during dinner. We didn’t have anywhere to be, so we just relaxed and chatted while waiting for our food. Sadly, we did see a few other customers who were far less patient. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they didn’t know that this was actually the very first night they were open.
Anyway, I had chicken in crisp lettuce wraps as an appetizer, and OMG. I could have eaten bucketsful. The chicken filling was so yummy. Kris had the Thai spring rolls, which had HUGE shrimp in them. He said they were amazing. For dinner, I had a Vietnamese rice noodle bowl with chicken. There was a ton of chicken, simply but perfectly grilled, with noodles and veggies. Kris decided to try some sushi. He ordered the East Moon roll and some spicy yellowtail. The East Moon roll had tempura shrimp, lettuce, cucumber, scallion, celery, and jalapeno. He said it was absolutely the best sushi he’s ever had. I did snag a piece of the spicy yellowtail, and it was excellent.

That’s the last two pieces of the yellowtail in the front, and the East Moon roll in the back. (Pardon the colors - the light wasn’t that bright and I didn’t use the flash because it was weird enough to be taking a picture of the sushi.)
Before we left, we flagged down the manager and waved him over to our table. Before we could say anything, he started to apologize, because it was their first night. We told him that we knew that, since I had called the day before, and that we understood there were some bumps, but that the food was wonderful and that we would be back. He looked so relieved and happy that we were actually NOT complaining that I made up my mind then and there - I’ve got a new purpose in life. I am going to be an anti-complainer. So many times, we are all quick to complain when something isn’t right, and yet most of us don’t bother to let anyone know when things are good. So, I’ve decided to change that in my life. When I get great service from a waiter or waitress, I’m going to tell the manager. When a store employee is helpful above and beyond their job duties, I’m going to tell the manager. There is so much negativity in the world, and I am going to make an effort to put a little extra positive energy out there.
On the way home, we stopped so that Kris could gas up, and since his car was covered in pine pollen he decided to run it through the car wash as well (Let’s not discuss the ridiculous rainstorm we are now experiencing…). What you don’t know is that Kris recently bought a used Jeep Cherokee, and this is the car we were driving. He’d noticed before that it leaked above the dash when it had been raining, but could never find where the leak was. We found out pretty damn fast exactly where it was.

That would be the wad of napkins that were in his glove compartment, holding back the stream of water pouring in through the leak in the seal around his windshield. By the end of the wash, we had two wads, both just about soaked through. He’s on his computer right now, looking for someplace that can fix it on Monday.
So, that was my thrilling Saturday. Anyone else have any adventures? :)
