Katydid Knits

In theory, it's all about the fiber – knitting, crocheting, sewing, and spinning – but really, it's all about my life.

Grah.

I’m sick of having to go through spambot comments to make sure that real ones don’t get deleted (and I have caught a few that were mis-filed by Akismet), so I’ve added a new plugin that I’m hoping will help with it. It does use Javascript and cookies, so if you leave a comment and it asks you to turn cookies on, don’t panic. If it turns out to be a huge PITA for everyone, I’ll try something else, but I want to give it a bit to see if it helps.

ETA: Looking at the info on it, the plugin won’t accept comments shorter than 15 words, so it may or may not work for me. I’m going to give it a day or two.

ETA2: It doesn’t seem to do anything. I asked Kris to leave a comment, and it didn’t yell at him for it being less than 15 words. I’m hoping it will have blocked some spam in the next day or two, or it’s back to the drawing board.  It has an option for a comment form, but it looks like a pain in the butt to add it to individual posts, so I don’t think I want that.  It should work without it…  It’s WP-SpamFree, by the way, if anyone has experience with it.

I’ve been pretty lucky with low levels of spam. Good luck on your quest for the perfect filter for you!

I use Akismet on my blog and never had to dig through the spammed comments to find no spam – I’ve had a few that were spam waiting for aprovement, but that’s it. Maybe the Akismet’s setting are too overzealous on your blog?

Ditto w/ SR – no spam ever on my blog. I realize that only 3 people read it, and that is only when I post something on the third thursday in the full moon but only if it’s raining, but I’ve never had a bit of

    spam, spamm, spam, spam,
    Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!

If only blog spam was as much fun as Spamalot.
