In theory, it's all about the fiber – knitting, crocheting, sewing, and spinning – but really, it's all about my life.

Spring is Sprung!

And, no, I do not know this because this weekend was the freaking Daylight Saving Time change (which I haaaaaaaaaate).  I know this because yesterday, I did my traditional “Welcome Spring” ritual.

Most people welcome spring by doing things like gardening, or cleaning off the porch, or checking the status of the lawnmower.  Me, I do it differently.

By singing.

Ever since college, the first warm-enough day of spring meant driving around with the windows down and this cranked on my car radio, singing along at the top of my lungs:

That’s right.  “Zombie Jamboree” by Rockapella.  The version I have is actually from a Spike Lee tv special called “Do It A Capella”, but the YouTube video from that is a little long, and the song doesn’t start until halfway through, so I linked this one instead.  Gotta love the mullets on the guys, though, no?  Particularly the lead singer…

Happy Monday, and happy spring!

Hmmm hard to picture you with a mullet but not hard picturing you singing at the top of your lungs. Happy Spring!

I believe the mullet is the ‘official Zombie hairdo’.
How much wonderful is it to sing out with all the car windows down?
The vernal equinox is Fri. March 20 this year, but I’ve got buds and some flowers, so that means spring to me.
(I really despise the time change too. How do we get it changed? Cogs churning….;-)

I did a little singing out the car windows this weekend, but I was singing something more along the lines of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Baa Baa Black Sheep. No mullets are conjured with those songs I believe.

OMG! I adore Rockapella. Bad ‘doos and all.

My spring ritual involves opening every window in the house and just standing there, smelling the fresh air and enjoying the warmth…

…and then I walk around the house and pick up everything that has blown off every flat surface.

I love Rockapella too. I used to watch Carmen Sandiego half because of them and half because I’m a low-level geography geek :)

While I’m not a fan of losing an hour’s sleep, I vastly prefer DST to standard time. I love the extra daylight in the evenings!
