When My Public Speaks, I Listen
My public. HA!
Anyway, y’all requested being able to see the dress to properly advise me, so here it is. And pardon the it’s-9:30-and-I-had-yoga-tonight look.
Front:
Back (Hello, tattoo #3!):
I think I’m leaning toward a shrug rather than a shawl, mostly for ease and not having to juggle it. Also, I think I’d rather not have a point at my butt AND a bow on my back at the same time.
And yes, those are the shoes I am planning to wear. And before you ask, my foot is feeling MUCH better, those are surprisingly comfortable, and I plan to continue to take excellent care of them from now until the day of the wedding. And I’ll pack flats just in case they start to bother me.
So, now that you’ve seen it, suggest away!
(PS – Day two – another mile walked, and four more on the bike. Planning to do the same tomorrow and hit the pool again.)

I was there when that dress was purchased!! It really didn’t look that spectacular on the hanger, but when she put it on, I was like, WHOOOAAAA…and thought about switching teams for the merest of moments. DAY-UM.
And you should wear your hair up, like a french twist or something. Show off those shoulders!
Yowza!

HOT DAMN!

I LOVE it– that is one cute dress. I have absolutely no idea what I’ll be wearing… I think there are a few dresses in the back of the closet, but I don’t have a clue what sizes they are, or what size I am for that matter.
Once I get this babysitter deal all locked up, I can begin to get excited for the wedding as an actual night out for me & hubby!

Ohhh just love it on you!!!! Just love the colors! I really like the idea of a rectangular shawl.

Gorgeous! Who’s getting married? (sorry, I’m not a reliable blogstalker). Some black lacy shrug, black sock yarn, hmmm…
Yorkie, I’m so jealous you guys get to play? Ever coming to the “other” coast?

Youz gorgeous, lady! Whoo!
April 3rd, 2009 at 3:10 am
I think it looks great on you. Colours really suit you and so does the style. I agree a shrug would be more managable.
p.s It may be a ’9.30, done yoga look’ but damn girl – you working it

Love that dress! But what shrug pattern? Yeah I’m clueless!

*delurk*
What about this one? It’s a shrug and pleasingly lacy: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mermans-delight-shrug

No suggestions, but I love the dress on you!

That is a goreoumously fabulous dress. You look great! As for a shrug, I think this one: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lace-shrug. The bows would match your bows. It would be faboo. It’s out of fingering weight though. Do you have that much time?
April 3rd, 2009 at 7:36 am
Lovely dres! I wish I had the nerve to wear somethin like this. Yes, I think a shrug would work very well in your case. Easy enough to slip it off when you get hot . . . just don’t forget to take it with you when you leave the party!
April 3rd, 2009 at 7:48 am
That dress is seriously cute on you :0)
No pattern suggestions though, sorry. That’s what the Rav is for ;0)

Lovely lovely!! How about something like this in black with a blue brooch as the pin?

By the way, I think I have those same shoes. Are they patten leather with a large buckle on the side?
April 3rd, 2009 at 8:54 am
Actual words out of my mouth upon spying this, “Oh damn that’s cute”. I wore a similar dress to a function a few weeks ago and it came with simple shrug that was shaped just like the fiery bolero.

*wolf whistle* Damn woman, that is fanfreakingtastic on you! I think the Anthropologie-Inspired Capelet would look great with that! Or maybe the Lace Ribbon Scarf pattern? Just mod it up to a wider rectangle, knit to the length you like, then sew up the side seams to make the sleeves. It’s a more angular stitch pattern, which would be a lovely contrast with the floral.

You look beautiful. That is the perfect choice for a spring wedding. You will love it when dancing. Now about the shrug, how about something like this?

I have that particular mag if you want it.
You might want to go crochet for speed. I found a pretty one in fingering.

Honestly, I wouldn’t go capelet with this dress. It’s beauty is in the bell shape of a close fitting top and A-line skirt. I’d stay with that line and chose a shrug. My 2 cents.
April 3rd, 2009 at 10:34 am
Wow, you look amazing in that dress!
I am fond of the Shells and Flowers Shrug because it leaves the neckline open, but still provides coverage in the back and sholders. Plus, the lace pattern is a little more dressy!
April 3rd, 2009 at 10:43 am
I picked up a cute little black shrug not too long ago at Old Navy. They might still have them and it would be perfect as a back up for that dress, that’s why I bought mine.
April 3rd, 2009 at 11:52 am
Love the dress on you! Good luck with the shrug search. I’ll re-delurk if I see anything!
April 3rd, 2009 at 12:36 pm
I’m in love with that dress. And you look fabulous in it.
I think a shrug would be perfect with it – more tailored than a shawl. You don’t want to hide that gorgeous dress in a shawl!!
April 3rd, 2009 at 2:38 pm
you look FABULOUS darlin!
I would say a stole better, doncha think? a shrug would be nice but dunno about shrug over bow or above bow in back.
April 3rd, 2009 at 4:16 pm
I vote a shrug over a shawl. The dress seems perfect for a fitted shrug.
April 3rd, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Beautiful! I also vote for a shrug as I think that will be very cute with the dress. Enjoy the wedding!
April 3rd, 2009 at 7:50 pm
love (1000)
Great dress – you are going to break hearts
April 3rd, 2009 at 10:42 pm
That is gorgeous! I love it and it looks brilliant on you!
April 4th, 2009 at 11:52 am
I’d go with a shawl over a shrug…the shrug will compete with the empire waist, which I think would be fine if the band wasn’t a solid color. You’re going to lose the empire emphasis if you go with a shrug.
April 7th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
You look absolutely fabulous in that dress!!! Gorgeous!!
I can’t wait to see what you knit up! You’re a bit smarter than me and you’re planning in advance. Last year, I had a wedding and bought a new dress a few days before and then had to spend way too much money on a cute little shrug to go with it! So I’ll vote for a shrug!!
