Katydid Knits

In theory, it's all about the fiber – knitting, crocheting, sewing, and spinning – but really, it's all about my life.

We Have Cuffs!

I’ve got lots of yarn left, so now I just need to decide how long to make them. Still entirely in love with them, though! And if you are wondering, those are my fabulous dragonfly sock blockers made by Cristi. I realized when I put the socks on them that I never remembered to blog [...]

Leyburn Update

I’m up to the heel on my STR Leyburn Socks, and I’m completely in love with them. The color isn’t very accurate in that shot, because I took it indoors at night, but you can see the pattern. It’s awesome. The KAL on Ravelry is lots of fun, too – all those colorways! Artsy-fartsy closeup!

Baaaaaa

Yup.  I’m a sheep.  Why this time?  Well, I got a message on Ravelry that someone had linked to my profile in a post.  Specifically, Cristi linked to me to ask me if I wanted to join in on the Leyburn Socks KAL in the Socks That Rawk! group.  Basically, they are taking this lovely [...]

Giggle du Jour

So, CBear posted this link on the knittyboards, and I had to post the comic here. It’s yesterday’s “Rhymes with Orange” strip, and it’s TOO funny. In other news, I finished up the mittens yesterday morning while we were waiting for Mindy to recover from Saturday night. I won’t go into detail, but let’s just [...]

Well, There’s a Shocker.

Glittrgirl posted this today, so I thought I’d check it out for myself. Your rainbow is shaded green.               What is says about you: You are an intelligent person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook [...]

Mittenses!

OK, technically, mitten.  Ok, technically only HALF a mitten.  But look how cute! Dragonflies on the back of the hand: Flowers on the palm side, which will become stripes above the thumb (the white crochet thread is waste yarn for the thumb. I’m using some Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Solids I picked up from DBNY [...]

Carmelo

That’s right – I finished her up last night! I even managed the grafting at the end of the tubular cast-off on the second try. That’s a fairly huge accomplishment for me. It goes beautifully with my new shawl pin that I bought at Stitches this year. I really like the way it fits. Plus, [...]

Checking in

You know, it’s amazing what you can get done when you actually sit down and do it.  During rehearsal Friday night, I bound off the front edge of the first half of Carmelo.  After a weekend of trying to stay out of Kris’s way while he was working on NaNoWriMo (still going!), I am here: [...]

Y’all Crack Me Up.

Seriously.  Ok, first, thank you for the lovely compliments on the sweater – I adore it, and Kris is really thrilled with it.  Bonus – he wore it all day yesterday, and so far, no pilling!  Yay!  And Yorkie, I must correct you a bit – I saw him first, my dear.  But I’m sure [...]

NaKniSweMo08 Complete!

NaNoWriMo08… still in process. Explaining to Meeko that claws + sweater = repercussions for the owner of said claws. Plotting the placement of the shed. Squinting at the sun (it was the only shot I got of the collar. ) Chatting with Lola. I’m really thrilled with how it came out, and Kris loves it.  [...]
