IN YOUR SENIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL…
1. Did you date someone from your school? Yes.  Two someones, actually.  And I’m still in touch with both of them.

2. Did you car pool to school? I didn’t drive until my sophomore year of college, but I had friends in my neighborhood who were lovely enough to drive me. 

3. What kind of car did you have? Uh… see above.

4. What kind of car do you have now? Kaylee!  My purple Honda Fit! 

5. Its Sunday night…where are you now? Heh.  I’m writing this to publish later, so amusingly it IS Sunday night right now.  Anyway, right now I’m in my craft room.  Usually, I’m in the living room with Kris, unless it’s tech week for a show, which would mean we’d be at the Bowie Playhouse.

6. It is Sunday night…where were you then? Probably at home doing homework.  Maybe with some friends there working together.

7. What kind of job did you have in high school? I worked at Long John Silver’s the summer before my senior year, but that was it.  Mom and Dad were of the opinion that school WAS my job at that point, and I appreciate that.

8. What kind of job do you do now? I’m a homemaker.  I cook, I clean, I shop, I pay bills… all very exciting stuff.

9. Were you a party animal? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  Uh, no.

10. Were you considered a flirt? I don’t think so, but since I found out a few years back that I was some sort of cult leader, who knows?

11. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? I was in chorus from 7th grade through junior year, but couldn’t schedule it as a senior due to conflicts.  So, I helped out with the marching band instead – I was on the squad that carried the American flag for pre-game and parades, and we did the equipment changes for the colorguard, majorettes, and rhythmettes during halftime.

12. Were you a nerd? Pretty much, yeah.  But I was happy being one, and I had like-minded friends, so I never felt like an outcast or anything.

13. Did you get suspended or expelled? See #9.

14. Can you sing the fight song? If someone started it, I could probably join in, but I am blanking at the moment.

15. Who was your favorite teacher? Back then, I’d have said Mr. Scarcelli, who taught trig and calculus, but the more I look back on it, I realize that as much as I did love him, Miss Bowman, my English teacher, was equally amazing.  I was REALLY lucky to have both of them junior AND senior years.

16. Where did you sit during lunch? Uh… in the cafeteria?  We weren’t allowed to eat outside or anything like that.

17. What was your school’s full name? Penn Hills Senior High School.

18. When did you graduate? 1991

19. What was your school mascot? The Indians.  In recent years, though, they’ve changed it to “Big Red” to be a little more culturally sensitive.  That was always part of the nickname anyway, so it doesn’t really bother me.

20. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Oh, HELL no.  I am glad to be back in touch with a lot of people (Yay Facebook!), but senior year sucked massively on a LOT of levels.

21. Did you have fun at Prom? Yes, although I also spent a lot of time trying to restrain myself from killing my date, who was not exactly being awesome that night.  (Don’t go to the prom with your ex-boyfriend when you’ve started dating someone else.  Awkward!)

22. Do you still talk to the person you went to Prom with? Yup!  Although I talk to his wife (who I STILL haven’t met) more. 

23. Are you planning on going to your next reunion? Absolutely!

24. Do you still talk to people from school? Yup!  Thank goodness for Facebook – I’ve found a TON of people in the last year.

25. School Colors? Red and gold.

26. What celebrities came from your high school? There was a guy in my class who played football for a year or two (Tom Tumulty – nice guy, for as much as I knew him, anyway), but years before me was a guy named Kevin Peter Hall.  No one knows the name, but he played the Predator in Predator, Harry in Harry and the Hendersons, and was Dr. Lincoln on “Misfits of Science”.  VERY tall man.  Sadly, he died of AIDS-related complications the year I graduated.

27. Did you play a sport? Uh, no.  Me = not an athlete.

28. What was your favorite club? Drama!  This should surprise no one…

29. What class or teacher did you fear? I can’t really say I “feared” any class, but I really, really didn’t like gym.  I still, almost 20 years later, have nightmares that I didn’t dress often enough for gym and therefore won’t graduate.

30. What class was your favorite? Senior year, probably calculus.  See, I TOLD you I was a nerd!

And I didn’t even do the “pick a few favorite colors to use as a tiebreaker” at the end of the quiz, either.  Guess I come by my favorite color pretty honestly, eh?

I finished up the first Dragonfly mitten (take two), and this one fits perfectly.  I’m about halfway through the second now, and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get it done in the next day or so.  One thing I’ve learned from it, though, is that superwash was NOT a wise choice for stranded knitting.  I couldn’t keep the tension as even as I’d have liked because the yarn was just a little too slippery.  I’m hoping I can even some of that out in the blocking, though.

Looking forward to this weekend – Mindy and Steve are coming down tomorrow because tomorrow night is an engagement party for JMac and Mary Beth, so we get to see them and go party.  Mindy’s one request was that we go to breakfast somewhere on Sunday that does NOT involve her sharing her food with a kid or cutting up someone else’s food.  I think someone is looking forward to a grown-ups weekend away from the kids, don’t you? 

Speaking of kids, if you don’t read Steve’s blog, you missed the news that N got his casts off on Monday!  It looks like the surgery worked, and his feet are able to stay perpendicular to his legs now.  He’s still got some physical therapy ahead of him, but yay!!

1. What’s your favorite post from number 3′s blog?
Aw, jeez. This HAD to be the most proliferous poster on the list. Naturally. It’s a close call between her post on her Ivy League Vest (which was, after all, the one I paid homage to myself) or the one on her Violet Beauregard skirt, because I was so proud of her for putting pictures of herself in a bikini on her blog.  That’s damn gutsy.  Plus, both the vest and the skirt were awesome!

2. Has number 10 taken any pictures that moved you?
Well, her Spherey and Podkid posts moved me to giggles, but the picture where she laddered down her Indigo Ripples skirt to move the decreases over and fix a mistake made me so proud!

3. Does number 6 reply to comments on his/her blog?
You know, I’m actually not sure if she does. I don’t have any emails from her on them, and I’m bad about remembering to check to see if people reply in the comments.

4. Which part of blogland is #2 from?
Bezzie’s one of my Knitty peeps! Plus, she’s on the list of knitters I’ve actually been lucky enough to meet in person!

5. If you could give one piece of advice to number 7, what would it be?
The only thing I’d have to suggest would be that she blog more often! I love her stuff, and we just don’t see enough of it. (I can’t grumble too much, though – she’s working full time and is starting grad school this spring. She’s BUSY.)

6. Have you ever tried something from number 9′s blog?
Heh… Well, I participated in her Oscar party this year! Some of the things on her blog, though, I’m not trying. (I love you, PK, but I’m not joining you in the Bejeweled Boobies club!)

I fear mentioning this, lest it go to his head, but yes. I loved this post.

Oh dear GOD yes! I love Yorkie’s posts – I never know whether I am going to be moved to tears, or do a spit take and bust a gut laughing. She’s an amazing woman.

Ah, Emma. My dear Emma, with your tempting yarns and fiber… You’ve kept my interest in spinning up, and you’ve made me want to improve my spinning so that someday I can convince someone to knit me a shawl out of my handspun.  Assuming I actually mailed said theoretical handspun…

See, I’ve been a Billy Joel fan since I was a kid.  Specifically, since the “An Innocent Man” era.  I listened to that and “Greatest Hits Vol I and II” about a billion times.  Eventually, I amassed all of his albums on cassette.  (This was back in the pre-cd days, obviously.)  Well, when I was doing the meme, I realized that Kris and I have a surprising lack of Billy Joel in our music collection, despite both being fans.  So, I started looking on Amazon to see about getting the full collection back again, including the “My Lives” box set that I’ve been looking at for about 3 years now. (And if any of you is as obsessive a fan as I am, the missing ones  are the ones we did in fact already have.)

And now, I have it.  So, I’ll be importing it into iTunes for the rest of the evening.

Thank you all for your kind words on my sewing projects.  They are lots of fun, and I might just keep making them.  Who knows, maybe there will be an Etsy shop in my future.  Either that, or everyone I know is going to end up with one whether they want it or not.

And I’ve definitely developed a fondness for orange, which is funny because it’s not a color I used to be all that interested in.  That changed about, hmm, 12 years ago now, back when I still lived in PA and was still active at the Academy Theatre in Meadville.  In the summer of 1996, I was in a production of “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”  (And before any smartasses ask, I was one of the brides.  If I can dig up a picture, I’ll have to post it – I wore a PLATINUM blonde wig.  It was hilarious.)  In typical fashion, the brides and brothers were color-coded.  So, I wore an orange calico dress for most of the show, and a peach eyelet dress for the big dance number, and the guy I played opposite wore an orange shirt.  It was all very cute and matchy-matchy.  We had such fun doing that show (and I dropped about 15 pounds during rehearsals.  I wasn’t even overweight to start with back then!) and starting with that memory, I’ve developed a fondness for orange, and it’s a close second to green as my favorite color.  (It doesn’t hurt that it also makes me think of one of my very dearest friends, although that’s a more recent association.)

Um… I actually don’t. Heh. I’m not sure I do!

Besides mine? (Blatant plug!) (See where I get it from?) There are a few: Pocketsize Studios, Turtlegirl’s Blog, Huge Orange Enigma… many many MANY more.

9)Do you mind my wanting to stop at knit shops wherever we go?
Nope, just as long as I get my gadget store fix too.   And trust me, he does.  You know it’s bad when the people at Best Buy actually comment that it has been a while…

10) Do you understand the importance of a swatch?
Yup. It allows you to determine what size a piece done with particular yarn on particular needles and a particular knitter’s tension will be.  Wow – he DOES pay attention!

11) Do you read my blog?
Irregularly, but I just added you to my reader, so that will change.

12) If I didn’t knit, what would be different?
Significantly fewer shawls would inhabit our house.
